Brakes
Pads, rotors, calipers, fluid and lines. We inspect free, then quote before anything comes apart.
What you might be noticing
If any of these sound like your car, this is the right page.
- A squeal that stops when you brake
Usually the wear indicator doing its job. Get it looked at this week.
- Grinding or a metal scrape
Pad material is gone and you are into the rotor. Stop driving it if you can.
- The pedal goes soft or sinks
Air or a fluid leak in the system. This one is urgent.
- The car pulls to one side when stopping
A sticking caliper or uneven pad wear.
- Steering wheel shakes under braking
Warped or unevenly worn rotors.
- Longer stopping distance in the wet
Glazed pads or thin rotors. Common after a salt winter.
What we do
- Pads and rotors measured and reported
- Calipers and slides checked and lubricated
- Brake fluid tested for moisture
- Lines and hoses inspected for corrosion
- Road test before the car goes back to you
Questions we get
- How much will it cost?
- It depends on the vehicle and on what the inspection finds. You get a written number before we start, and nothing gets replaced without your approval.
- Do I need rotors too, or just pads?
- Rotors have a minimum thickness stamped on them. If yours are above it and wearing evenly, we resurface or leave them. We measure and show you.
- Can you do it the same day?
- Usually, if we have the parts on the shelf. Call the shop and ask before you drive over.
- Why do brakes wear faster here?
- Road salt, and stop and go traffic. Salt corrodes hardware and seizes slides, which chews pads unevenly.
